Well….it has been some time since I have made an entry in this blog. A few weeks ago I got a great deal on a used Mac G5 computer which has opened up many more possibilities for editing and presenting my photographs. I had an old G4 computer that was 10 years old and whenever I tried to work with video, the computer would groan and than go into major slow down mode. So I have been spending the last few weeks learning programs that enabled me to create what I am showing you here.
to see this video.
The ability to give my viewer even more of an idea of what is going on in my head when I am out looking for photographs has been amazing, but also daunting because of the learning curve involved. We have all heard that the best way to stay young is to exercise both body and mind and this new (for me) computer has stopped a few gray cells from dying from lack of use.
I have always been fascinated by the relationship images and music can have. Before digital I played around with two projectors, dissolve machine and tape to try and sync photos to music. Now we can do it so much more elegantly with the computer. You are looking at my first real attempt at using the “Ken Burns” effect in my photos and it took sometime to create, but hopefully the next one will be even better.
*How is this movie running on your computer? Because this is my first attempt at this, I would appreciate any feedback you can give me in regards to the quality of the playing of the movie.

Great stuff – loved the music – helped slow me down to really look at the images which are beautiful especially the last one merging into dunes on the beach.
Miss you both – have been totally involved with my back and the pain. Am waiting to hear from my doctor today about the mri results. High on percoset – though feel like a drunkard which isn’t that great. Rockport is wonderful and when I was down at the ocean the other day and taking it in I had tears of joy reaslising that I was actually living at the ocean. A dream come true. Love that you’re doing all this work – good to take care of thosae brain cells – I think mine are disappearing.
Would love a real visit with you right now. Even though friends are not far, I still feel like I’ve really left this area and I need to make the transition and settle with the new.
Lots of love to you both. This isn’t really a comment so delete what you need to.
Lots of love from me to you both. May your new and beautiful work manifest for you all that you need to take care of yourself.
Wow Sam! I’d say the investment was well worth it
The video ran smooth as silk on my 6-year old PC. I love how you can pan and move around a photo so that it looks like video but gives the viewer an opportunity to really study the subject. And the music brings it all together. The combination really brings your photographs to life…and then a step beyond.
